Let’s face it, nobody is providing secure webmail logons. Zimbra is no exception. The problem isn’t exclusive to Zimbra. Username and password is simply inadequate, but so familiar, ingrained, and convenient that it will never likely go away. Attempts have been made to secure internet applications which have focused primarily on anti-phishing strategies. While it is important that the user is not duped it is also important that your company isn’t. Unauthorized use of email systems for SPAM and fraud is a serious threat to your online presence and corporate image. If you could provide a level of security not found in any other solution, and could make it an ‘optional extra’ for a nominal fee to the end user then why wouldn’t you? The fees you recoup can offset the cost and provide you with a competitive marketing advantage.
